Jen and Jake barely missed each other in 2015 when both completed the John Muir trail. They didn’t know each other then even though they both lived in Mexico City and both regularly visited Desierto de Leones, a park on the edge of the city. They met in 2017 and have been hiking together ever since.
Jen is from Washington state between Seattle and the Canadian border. She grew up hiking in the North Cascades with her family. She went on her first backpacking trip at about 12 years old with her dad and brother. Jen is returning after seven years in Mexico City to the US to hike the Pacific Crest Trail. She’s looking forward to mountain meadows and Cheez-it crackers.
Jake is from Shrewsbury, England. He grew up hiking with his dad’s school and with family on trips to the Lake District. He decided to walk the Camino de Santiago in 2007 and completed the Appalachian Trail in 2012 as well as other shorter trips. After 11 years in Mexico City, a change is long overdue. Looking forward to some jerky.
